[FOWA]: The future of social app interface design

• Adaptive UI > don’t serve same content to every users
• improve accuracy, adjust dynamically to user’s profile, suggest new things
• example: Top10 videos aren’t same in US and Japan
• (boah, this guy is hard to understand…)
• good example: cell phone interface where you start typing in. the more you text, the more it adapts what you’re propably about to do: Find a contact, send a text message, open a website, etc.
• beware! inaccurate adaption is embarrassng… and user behaviour changes over time and isn’t the same everywhere
• i18n: new challenges. texts on images don’t work well then…
• Languages: right to left, different grammar when female or male speaking, etc.
• GeoFeature UI: needs to get integreated deep in system
• GeoFeature != Map!
• User centred design > may be tricky (expensive, good for only parts of your users, etc)
• Better: Activity centred design! > activity has purpose. user has behaviours. purpose is more predictable than behaviour.

This guy surely has a lot of knowhow, but it wasn’t really easy to follow.
